Finally getting a chance to get caught up a little here!  Our AC went out during the hottest week this summer (110+ heat index), and we ended up moving out for a week instead of staying in our house, which was like a sauna.  I hate saunas.  Seriously.  Miserable.   The AC guy is here putting in a new unit right now.  I’m doing a little happy dance.  Not that I didn’t love staying at my parents for the week (thanks mom and dad!), but it sure is nice to be back home and get some work done.

The week before we left, I had a session with this cutie for her four month photos.  Stella is seriously one of the cutest babies I have ever seen!  And I’m not sure if it was me or the teething, but she was sticking her little tongue out at me most of the time.  I tried not to take it personally.  :)

I’ve been working on editing these photos from last weekend, and just had to post a few.  Is she not one of the most beautiful babies you have ever seen!?!  Little Leela was just 7 days old when we did her newborn photos.  I can’t get over her awesome hair.  I was bald until I was two years old (it’s true – I’ve seen the pics), so it always floors me when babies have this much hair.   Leela is one of my first year babies, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of her throughout the year.

A beautiful name to match a beautiful little face.   Arybella is such a pretty baby, and she gave me a lot of serious looks, but a lot of smiles, too.  I absolutely LOVED her dresses, and I had a great time meeting her, her mom, and grandma while taking her 3 month photos.  Arybella is one of my 1st year babies, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of her throughout the year.  

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Julie and Luke (and their adorable pup) for some engagement photos.  We had been planning this session for a good 6 months or so, but things kept coming up and I’m so glad we waited!  We finally had nice weather, and really, aside from the brave few, who wants to do outdoor photos in the winter anyways?  :)

We met on a gorgeous Sunday morning, the sun was shining, and these guys were so much fun!  I’m not sure if Luke was totally up for having his photos taken, but he was a great sport about it.  Plus, I got a tour of where their wedding will be at the TPC in Blaine next fall – GORGEOUS!

I had a great time meeting you guys, and thanks for your patience with the pics.  This bronchitis has really been kicking my butt.  Seriously, who gets sick in the summer???

My summer season has officially started with a bang. Things have been so busy lately that I have barely had time to update the blog! I do vow to blog every session, so although it might be a few weeks late, it will happen eventually.

I had a great time meeting up with these guys for an early morning photo shoot a few weekends ago. I was pretty sure we were going to get rained out yet again, but was pleasantly surprised to see the sun shining when I woke up that morning. Finally – some nice weather on a weekend! I arrived early to make sure I got a good parking spot incase the place was packed. Yeah…I was the only one in the parking lot – LOL!

I still get butterflies before each session, but I love it when a family can totally put me at ease. These guys were so nice, and so much fun! Cal totally cracked me up – he was posing like he’d been practicing for weeks. Of course, we got a lot of the silly faces, too, which are always fun because that’s when the real personality shows through. Ethan was a little shy at first, but came around after some peek-a-boo. And the way he followed his older brother around just melted my heart. I’m pretty sure my kids would have been running in opposite directions the entire time, but these guys did great!

I met up with Aidyn for some photos while her, her mom, and grandma were in town last weekend, and amazing still is not enough to describe this girl.  Aidyn is a heart baby.  She was born with a very complex congenital heart defect (click here for more info on CHD).  At just 6 days old, she had her first open-heart surgery.  At 10 days old, her first heart cath.    Just shy of her first birthday, she had corrective heart surgery, where she emerged with a fully functioning four-chamber heart.  Meeting her now at 3.5 years old, you would NEVER guess that she has gone through so much.  She was smiling, giggling, and running circles around the rest of us (telling us to “hurry up” when we weren’t walking fast enough – LOL!).   I am in awe of her – truly, she is a walking miracle.

Most of the sessions booked with me are for newborns, babies, and families, which I love, but last week I decided to head out to shoot with a friend and her sister-in-law.  We wanted to get outside and enjoy the “spring” weather.  Yeah…. remember my last blog post where I said I probably jinxed us by mentioning the fact that spring might finally be here?  Well, I did.  Here it is, the end of April, and we were FREEZING!  I seriously could have used some mittens and a down jacket.  This girl was such a trooper, though – froze her butt off just so we could check out some new spots.  And even better, she really knew how to work the camera, even if she couldn’t feel her toes.  

Last weekend I met up with Harrison for his six month photos. Harrison is one of my first year baby planners (his newborn photos can be seen here), and it’s amazing how much he has already changed in the last six months. He went from a sleepy, curly little newborn to an adorable, bright-eyed baby who is already sitting by himself, was full of smiles, and I swear he was about to take off crawling across that rug a few times. He has the most beautiful brown eyes, and is already a little charmer.

I have been photographing this cutie since he was just 8 days old. I can’t believe it’s been a year already! He has the most gorgeous big blue eyes, and a mischievous smile. He’s so full of personality! His mom has been plaining for this cake smash for quite a while, prepping him with chocolate cake so he knew what it was and happily dove right in when he saw it. Jess – you totally crack me up! We had so much fun, and I can’t wait to get some more pics of him outside once the weather warms up a bit.

And of course, clean up time afterwards.

I have been waiting to meet this little guy for a while, and when he was FINALLY born (about 10 days late), I couldn’t wait to meet up with him and his parents! Due to the freezing Minnesota weather we had at the time, we postponed his newborn session until it was a little nicer out (i.e. – above zero). He was 3 weeks old already at our session, and awake almost the entire time (can’t say the same about Andy – LOL!). It worked out great because he has the most beautiful eyes! Seriously gorgeous little guy, and super calm and laid back – just like his parents.
