Maternity sessions can be photographed at my gorgeous, newly-built Lino Lakes studio, or they can photographed outdoors. They are typically scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks, where your bump will be showing but you’re still comfortable. Both parents as well as any older siblings are welcome to be part of your session.
Maternity clients have the option of using anything from my curated studio wardrobe, which includes a variety of beautiful silk and cotton gowns, skirts, robes, caftans and more. Don’t see exactly what you’re looking for? Let me know and we can work out a custom gown purchase. Hair and makeup can be added to any maternity session, and is highly suggested. Even a little bit of professional hair and makeup (and lashes!) can make a huge difference in the final outcome in your photos.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
When is the best time to book maternity photos?
I typically suggest scheduling maternity photos anywhere from 28 to 33 weeks – enough that your bump is showing, but you’re still comforatble.
Do you offer wardrobe for maternity sessions?
Yes! My studio wardrobe has something for everyone, from size XS to 3X. Most of the dresses I have are bump-friendly, and they all photograph beautifully. Brands include Free People, Baltic Born, Spell, Doen, and many more. I carry lace bralettes and slips as well. The only thing you’ll want to bring is a strapless bra if you have one, and light or nude colored underwear. I offer pre-session consultations if you’d like to come in a week or two before your session to try on dresses and choose which one(s) you’d like to use. That way I can have them steamed and ready to go the day of your session.
How long does a maternity session last?
The length of the session depends on how many outfit changes there are, and if any other family members will be included in your session. In general, most maternity sessions are about an hour long.
Can family members be included in my maternity photos?
Absolutely! All of my sessions are very family centered, and your spouse/partner and any children you have are always welcome to be in your maternity photos. We’ll chat and make a plan beforehand, but these sessions usually include a mix of individual and family photos.
Do you offer intimate or boudoir maternity sessions?
Definitely! So many women feel empowered and beautiful during this time, and I love helping them document it in a tasteful, beautiful way. Many women will opt to use a dress or two from my studio wardrobe collection, and then take a few more intimate photos in a slip, oversized sweater, or just a bra and underwear. We can chat more about wardrobe and what types of images you’re wanting when we plan your session.
Do you recommend professional hair and makeup for maternity sessions?
Having professional hair and make-up done before your session is a great way to treat yourself so that you’ll look and feel your best for photos. I work with some amazing stylists who are fantastic at enhancing your natural beauty. A little soft eye makeup, loose waves and false lashes go a long way.
Can a maternity session be a part of my First Year Collective membership?
Absolutely! Many of my clients who sing up for a First Year Collective choose to include a maternity session in their membership. My most popular option is for maternity, newborn, and one year photos.
