If you haven’t had the experience of working with a luxury maternity, newborn or family photographer before, please read below as I explain a bit about how I can help make your portrait session as seamless as possible. I love working closely with my clients, from the initial planning and styling of their session to delivery of their finished artwork. STEP 1 – GET IN TOUCH
Once you've looked through my website and have decided that I might be a good fit, feel free to contact me either by filling out the contact form or by emailing me directly at hellomelissaklein@gmail.com. If you'd like, we can schedule a consultation before you book your session. I love meeting potential clients, and would be happy to show you my studio and learn a bit more about your family and portrait needs.
STEP 2 – BOOK YOUR SESSION
After our initial chat, I'll send a link for you to pay the session fee retainer. This will reserve your session date. I'll also send a form for you to fill out online so I have all of your contact information. At this point we can schedule an optional pre-session consultation if we haven't already met, which will allow us to discuss a bit more about what your hopes are for your session.
STEP 3 – BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Have another look around the website. Especially the portfolio pages as this will give you a feel for the sort of clothing that works well and the type of images we’ll create. If you'd like some help with styling, I offer a currated studio wardrobe for mothers, babies and children, which is available for all sessions. I'm also available for feedback with any questions you may have regarding outfit choices.
Start thinking about what you’d like to create with your images in terms of photographic wall art and/or albums. Most of my imagery is very neutral and compliments most home decor. Be sure to have a look through the fine art prints and prodoucts page for inspiration.
STEP 4 – YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION
This is where the fun really starts! My sessions are laid back and never rushed.
All sessions for newborns, babies and small children are baby-led, meaning we follow their cues. We play, we chat, we take time for baby to warm up to both me and my camera. For family photos, I will give you some direction, but there will be no stiff poses. I want to capture the authentic, candid connections between you and your loved ones.
STEP 5 – IMAGE SELECTION
Two to three weeks after your session, the photos will be ready for viewing/ordering. You'll have the option to meet at my studio for a viewing and ordering appointment, or viewing the photos in an online gallery.
For the in-person viewing, we'll watch a slideshow of your session images, and view printed proofs to choose your favorites. I’ll be there to help answer any questions you might have, as well as advise you on what works best to create your ideas from step 3. Together we’ll create some beautiful artwork for your home.
STEP 6 – ARTWORK DELIVERY
Your finished wall art, prints and albums will be ready in approximately four to six weeks. At that point I'll be in touch to schedule pickup or delivery.
