As a highly sought-after Minneapolis baby photographer, I absolutely love photographing babies as they grow. From a tiny newborn to an on-the-move baby in just one short year, it really is amazing how quickly they change. I aim to document this stage with timeless photos of your little one. My baby sessions are simple and natural, with minimal props, keeping the focus on your sweet baby. I have a variety of neutral outfits, blankets and natural wooden toys that are available to use, many of which can be seen throughout my portfolio.
Aside from newborn photos, many families like to have their babies photographed at the following stages:
four months (more head control, staring to smile)
six to eight months (grabbing toes, sitting up unassisted)
one year (standing/walking, cake smash)
Like all of my other sessions, the entire immediate family can be included at no additional charge. I offer a full studio wardrobe for mothers, babies and children (even some pieces for dads!), so if you want to jump in for a few quick photos, I have you covered.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What are the best ages for baby photos?
After newborn photos, I typically suggest photographing babies once they reach certain milestones. That is around 4 months of age (starting to smile, more head control), 6-8 months (sitting unassisted), and 1 year (standing/walking). Babies change so much in that first year, and it’s an honor to be able to document those changes.
Do you offer wardrobe for babies?
I sure do! I have a full studio wardrobe of clothing for babies in newborn size up to 4T. Beyond that I still have some dresses and neutral colored shirts from 5T up to size 12. All of the clothing I offer for babies/children photographs well with the wardrobe I offer for moms, which means you will have spend less time shopping, less time stressing over coordinating outfits, and less time doing laundry.
How long does a baby session last?
In my 12+ years of experience photographing babies, I have found that they typically don’t last much longer than 45 minutes or so before they become tired or hungry. I don’t rush these sessions, and we take plenty of breaks as needed, but I also try to work fast to photograph baby at their happiest.
Can family members be included in baby photos?
Absolutely! All of my sessions are very family centered, and I actually highly recommend that parents take part in the photos for multiple reasons. Your baby will probably be more comfortable, have less stranger anxiety, and warm up quicker if they are being held by you. And it also adds more variety to your images. Parents absolutely love the candid photos I take of them playing and snuggling with their baby.
Do you offer cake smash sessions?
Yes, as long as you provide the cake (for allergy reasons). Many of my clients choose a small, simple cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes, while others opt for something a little fancier from Thirsty Whale Bakery. A simple, light colored cake with white frosting is best. Naked cakes with some baby’s breath added are usually my favorite to photograph (see an example HERE).
