New for 2016, I will be offering “a day in the life ” sessions, and this is the family that started it all. They first contacted me in 2012 when they were looking for a Lakeville MN lifestyle photographer. They mentioned wanting me there for several hours, taking as many photos as possible. Looking at my portfolio (at least back then) there was not a lot of lifestyle type images on my website. But they found me online and loved my work, and wanted me to be the one to take their family portraits. I drove out to Lakeville to meet with them and photograph their maternity portraits, where we started off at their home in Lakeville and then proceeded to a nearby park for some outdoor images. I think I was with them for about 3 hours that day, and we had hundreds of images. Normally I try to get my galleries down to around 30 images – more than that and it’s gets overwhelming. But they wanted me to show them a lot more images than usual and I was happy to oblige. I went back to their home a few weeks later, and showed them their images. We laughed, we smiled – they loved their photos and I was so happy with how they turned out! They ordered about 80 different 8×10 prints, a 16×20 collage, and several 16×20 prints.
Since that first session in the spring of 2012, I’ve photographed this amazing family eight times. Eight times, they’ve invited me into their home to hang out and photograph their family doing everyday things – playing together as a family, Jorrie playing in her crib, playing with her toys, eating her lunch, etc. They are mostly very raw, unposed images, and that’s what makes them so special. I love that I can offer both types of sessions, but for 2016 these will be an official offering. “A day in the life” lifestyle sessions will include a one to three hour session with me photographing your family, hanging out and capturing the unposed moments, the candid moments, and probably a few posed ones in between. The session fee for these will also include a standard album full of your favorite images for you and your family to look back on and enjoy. I’m so excited to start offering these, and will be posting more about it early next year. If you’re on Facebook, add yourself to my VIP group! That’s where you’ll find most of my announcements, model calls, sneak peeks and updates (they eventually make it to the blog, too, just not as quick). And on to Jorrie’s photos! Be ready for an overload. I did take several hundred, so it was hard to choose just a few to share here. These are from her two-and-a-half year portrait session. I just finished her 3 year session so those will be up at a later date.
What a great session! I need to do one of these!!
Wow, these are great. I love sessions like this and I really love that red hair!
So fun! Love what you’ve captured.
These are so much fun, great job!
Absolutely love this! Day in the life sessions are SO important to do so we remember the little things…from the way they looked to the way our home looked to the toys they used to play with. We forget so quickly. <3
