When Alicia came in for her maternity session, Kody was at spring training with the Minnesota Twins. When their baby girl was born, he was able to be with for their newborn session and I’m so happy that I was able to photograph their first photos as a family of three!
Baby Funderburk was one of the most chill newborns I’ve had in the studio all year. This family has gone through so much this past year (you can read a bit about it on their maternity blog post here), and I was absolutely thrilled to hear that she’s always like this for them. Murphy Jo was born 5 weeks early, as mama was going through cancer treatment, but both mom and baby are doing amazing. She was 21 inches long at 5 weeks early, which is amazing! Will she be tall like her dad? Time will tell. She certainly was too tiny for the smallest jersey that they could find, but that first year always goes so fast and she’ll be wearing it in no time.
Murphy came in to the studio sleeping, and stayed that way for her entire session. She gave me lots of smiles and and we got through the whole session in about an hour, which is great for a newborn session! You never know if babies will need soothing, or rocking, or feeding breaks. It’s pretty rare to have one that sleeps and is content the entire time, but Murphy made my job easy and I was able to photograph her parents both loving on her. Here are some favorites from our time together.
