Earlier this year, I was contacted by someone who wanted to have family portraits taken for her mom. They hadn’t had any since they were kids, and she wanted to give this as a gift to her mother for her birthday. First of all – so sweet! It makes me so happy when people think to give the gift of photography to someone for a special occasion. Second – this family was amazing. I had so much fun with them, and laughed my butt off for most of their session. I kid you not, at one point dad flexed and said “sun’s out, guns out”. I just about lost it. I LOVE fun families who are laid back and have a great time with their session!
We photographed their session in the heart of the Twin Cities at my studio in St. Paul, and we were able to do both outdoor portraits and studio portraits. The outdoor portion was photographed right outside of my studio, and just days later they cemented over all of it to make a seating area for the brewery behind us (which, by the way, is awesome! Check them out if you’re in the neighborhood: https://www.lakemonsterbrewing.com/). I am slightly gutted about that, but I’m so glad we were able to use that area for their family session. For the studio portion, they wanted simple, clean portraits that showed them as a family. We did some posed, some goofing around, and I absolutely love how they turned out! They ordered a fine art print with an italian frame, glare free glass and conservation matting for their favorite portrait, along with an album and other prints. I loved delivering their order and watching them open it all up – it feels a little like Christmas. :)
