Not too long ago I posted some photos from an adorable First Year Collective with a baby girl named Eloise (her photos can be seen here), who’s parents originally contacted me when looking for a Mendota Heights newborn photographer. Well, Eloise is now a big sister! I absolutely love it when families come back to me for important sessions like these. It’s always so great to see everyone again, and watch their families grow over the years. I actually have four returning First Year Collective clients coming back this spring and summer! I think it’s going to be a baby boom year, and I can’t wait to see so many of my favorite families again.
I was told ahead of time that Eloise is a fiercely-loving big sister to baby Ethan, and that she may not want to leave his side. I was actually really excited to hear this! With two and three year old siblings, you never know exactly what you’re going to get when a new baby enters the picture. Some want to love on their new siblings, and some are totally uninterested in taking photos with them. When older siblings don’t want to be in photos with the new baby, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to get them to interact. Those tricks were definitely not needed for this session, though, as you can probably tell from the photos below. The smile on her face says it all!
As with Eloise’s newborn session, we used the same lamb-skin rug that was her dad’s when he was a baby. They also brought along an outfit that was dad’s as a newborn, and I made sure to get some photos of baby Ethan in that same outfit. I think it’s so special when families bring in sentimental items like this to incorporate into their photos, and I’m always happy to include things such as this into a session.
Here are some favorites from Ethan’s newborn session:
