Glen’s First Year Collective – photographers in Blaine

As one of many photographers in Blaine, the biggest honor I can receive in my business is when a client comes back again and again to have me photograph important milestones.  This family is one of my favorites, and I’ve gotten to know them well over the last few years.  It all started with baby Fern’s First Year Collective (you can see her newborn photos here), and continued with baby Glen’s First Year Collective.  And before I could get Glen’s First Year Collective up on the blog, they’ve already welcomed baby #3, and we’ve had a maternity session and newborn session for that baby, too!

Before this maternity session, I hadn’t seen Fern since her one year photos.  She had grown so much, and was talking up a storm!  I love seeing how much these babies grow and change over the years.  She did great for the maternity session (which was very family-centered, like all of my sessions).  For Glen’s newborn session, she was hesitant at first but eventually got in some photos with her brother (and a side note – getting a toddler in a photo with their new sibling can be tough!  I try to let things evolve naturally and if they can get together for even a few seconds for a photo, I’ll take what I can get sometimes).

By the time Glen turned one, Fern was not letting go of him.  They had so much fun playing together, and I loved watching them interact.  Glen changed from this tiny newborn to a busy one year old who wanted to check out all the things.  I keep lots of photogenic toys at the studio to keep babies sitting still for a bit, but he was mostly interested in playing on the bed.  Peekaboo and throwing wood blocks over the side were a big hit.

Glen was signed up for my First Year Collective, which means he had three sessions to document this fast-changing time.  They chose to do a maternity session, a newborn session and a one year session, but many do a 6 month session, too.  It’s a great way to make sure you’ve got a spot saved on my calendar.
