Maternity photos with a golden retriever? Yes please!! When Meredith first contacted me about maternity photos, she mentioned wanting to include her one year old dog in some of the photos, and I was all for it. I absolutely love it when clients include pets for their sessions! I have a big soft spot for dogs in particular, and I was so excited to hear that she’d be bringing Clover with for her session.
Clover was very well behaved, but as a one year old puppy, she still had a lot of energy. There wasn’t a lot of snuggling with Meredith’s belly, but she did love the treats that were brought with, and that was enough for her to sit still for some photos.
Meredith chose a Free People dress and an ASOS dress from my studio wardrobe collection, and they both looked absolutely beautiful on her! We did photos with and without Clover, and I love how they turned out.
A few helpful tips for those who would like to bring their furry family members along for photos:
1). A good long walk beforehand is always a great start. Dogs (and kids!) can sometimes get overly excited when they’re in a new place, so having them worn out a bit beforehand will help things go smoothly.
2). Bring along your pup’s favorite treats – something that will help your pet listen and cooperate for photos.
3). If you have a squeaky toy, bring that along as well. I like to hold it while photographing your pet, so I can squeeze it and quickly take their photo while I have their attention.
