Minneapolis family photographers – fall family photos in Minnesota

I had the pleasure of meeting this family of three when they were looking for Minneapolis family photographers and found me online.  We decided to photograph their session not too far from their Minneapolis home (although the session was in St. Paul), and it ended up being the perfect location for fall family portraits.

We decided to meet at Hidden Falls, which is a very popular spot for photos of all types.  There was a wedding being photographed along the river, so we opted for a smaller, quieter area to start.  That is the beauty of this location – it has an abundance of scenic little pockets of nature to play and photograph in.  After the wedding party left, we headed towards the river.  The water was low, so we were able to walk along the banks of the Mississippi river bluffs.  Lately the water has been too high to be in this particular area, so we definitely were lucky in that regards.  I wouldn’t advise going there otherwise, but it helped that James had just turned one and wasn’t overly mobile yet.  He walked with his mom and dad, played with the rocks and the logs, and loved watching the boats going down the river.  It was a perfect evening.
