I first met Maddie when I visited her and her grandmother for a consultation at their home in Wayzata a few days before our session. Karen found me while searching online for a Minnetonka family photographer, and I’m so glad she did! Maddie’s mom and dad have lived apart since she was 6 weeks old due to their jobs. Maddie, mom and grandma moved to MN, while dad was still out east. Soon, they’d all be moving back out east, and grandma wanted a photo session to commemorate their time in Minnesota, where Maddie spent her first year of life.
Being from the east coast, they were drawn to my simple, timeless children’s portraits. During our consultation we chatted about different locations for photos in their home, and also scouted out some outdoor spots by the lake. We planned out clothing options, and when she showed me one of Maddie’s dresses I lit up – so perfect for this type of session.
The morning of our session was windy, but beautiful and mostly sunny spring day. The area around Lake Minnetonka was perfect for photos, and on our way back there were some beautiful blooming trees that I knew would photograph beautifully, so we were taking photos along the sidewalk as well. I wish I would have taken some behind the scenes photos to show that beauty can be found in the most random places.
Here are some favorites from out session:
