I don’t photograph many high school seniors sessions – maybe one or two a year, and mostly just for families I know or that I’ve photographed before. Senior sessions like this one almost make me consider photographing more of them – it was a total dream session!
I have met Annika and her family a couple times. I photographed her older brother’s senior photos several years ago, and I also photographed Annika when she was in 8th grade and her mom wanted to do a fun session for her. Her mom contacted me when she was looking for a Minnetonka senior photographers for Annika’s photos, and I’m so glad she did! It was great seeing them again, although it didn’t feel like it had been four years since the last time I saw them. They say the baby/toddler years fly by, but I’m finding that the teenage years fly by just as fast.
When we talked about plans for her session, Annika asked if we could photograph the session at her grandparents home on Dutch Lake. I thought it was a great idea! Having a session like this at a place that is personal to you makes the photos even more special.
It was a muggy 84 degrees out the evening of our session, but you wouldn’t know it looking at the photos (I was an absolute hot mess, but Annika looked amazing!). She has a natural beauty about her, as well as a gorgeous smile. She was so at ease in front of the camera, and I had a great time photographing her. The outfits she brought with were perfect for the location, which was a photographers’s dream. So many beautiful spots for photos, and the light was great that night.
