Liz originally contacted me about wanting photos taken in the Twin Cities area, and we chose to do outdoor fall family photos at Tamarack nature center. It had rained on and off that entire afternoon, but we decided to take our chances and go forward with the session. I ended up being 3 for 3 on dodging rain that week! It stopped raining right as we arrived for our session, and the sun even peeked out for a bit.
We chose this spot because the boys went to preschool here when they were younger, and it had some special meaning to them. This was my first time photographing a session at Tamarack, so I went to check it out the week before. There are 3+ miles of trails to get lost on (seriously – I got lost the first time hiking around and had to ask someone how to get back to the main entrance). But what a beautiful place!
We got lucky that there wasn’t too many other people there due to the weather. This place is usually a photography hot spot, especially in the fall. We ended up having a great evening with lots of laughs from the boys, and stayed dry, too.
